Do you watch birds or are they watching you?

This project presents a series of fifteen mixed-media works featuring surreal, symbolic birds in minimal, graphic compositions. Created after the artist’s relocation to Ireland, the series draws attention to the quiet presence of birds in the surrounding environment and gradually turns this observation inward.

The birds appear as ambiguous figures — at once familiar and strange — acting as silent observers and guides. They inhabit a space between waking and dreaming, suggesting inner landscapes shaped by memory, emotion, and subconscious thought. Rather than illustrating a fixed narrative, the works create an atmosphere in which meanings remain open and shifting.

Working with acrylic, watercolour, markers, and pencil on gessoed cardboard and paper, the artist uses simplified forms and restrained compositions to create a sense of stillness and focus. Each work offers a pause — a moment in which the viewer is invited to look more closely, not only at the image, but at their own internal state.
